About the Festival

Asia is an eclectic mix of culture and traditions, which is aptly reflected in the cuisines of its countries. The exquisite culinary fare of Asian countries offers unique delights to food lovers. Each country’s cuisine is traditionally and skillfully crafted to bring out the best of each ingredient.

The ASEAN Food Festival is a celebration of the variety of cuisines of Asia. With various activities planned during the 2-day festival and food counters offering a taste of traditional cuisines, the festival promises to be exciting and fun. The event intends to promote the culinary delicacies of Asia to international visitors. It also aims to offer them a memorable food tour of participating countries.

The festival will be attended by locals, international tourists, delegates from Myanmar’s government ministries, officials from the Mandalay regional government, ambassadors from ASEAN member states such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines as well as other participating Asian countries, and representatives of Myanmar Restaurant Association, Myanmar Chefs Association and Myanmar Tourism Federation.

In this festival, you will get to eat a variety of Indian thali featuring a range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes served with chapati, paratha or rice.

Japanese cuisine is minimalistic yet tasty. From Japanese glutinous rice and miso soup to sushi and sashimi, you will get to taste the best of Japanese food. You can try a range of seafood delicacies as well as broth-based dishes such as oden, sukiyaki and nikujaga.
