HISTORY

This 2,500 years old pagoda is something that can’t be missed. Complete your tour of Myanmar by visiting this magnificent pagoda that is known to enshrine the hair of the Lord Buddha along with other precious holy relics. There is a 326-foot pagoda situated on the Singuttara Hill that is completely covered in gold plates. The stupa is decorated with more than 4,000 diamonds that sparkle brightly when there is sunlight.

The pagoda functions as one of the main religious sites of the locals. Every year, Buddhist devotees offer donations and flowers as a tribute to the pagoda, and they will also meditate and pray at the holy site. You can witness the traditional lives of the villagers as well as the importance of Buddhism in the community during your visit to this pagoda. It is highly recommended that visitors dress decently as a form of respect to the locals’ religious centre.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

While the pagoda shines bright during the day, visit it during the night for a surreal experience. If you are visiting in the morning, go early when the light is good to take pictures. The bright sunshine during the day can make photography quite difficult.
