Myeik Archipelago is a group of 800 gorgeous and untouched islands in southern Myanmar, off the coast of Andaman Sea. These extraordinary islands are ideal for individuals who want to switch off from the world and spend a few days immersed in nature. Most of the islands are undiscovered, adding to the attraction of the destination.

These islands are fun to explore on a boat. The waters around the islands are untouched, presenting a surprising array of marine life and corals, some of which are not seen anywhere else in the world. These waters are an ideal diving destination for adventure lovers.

Things To Do


Out of the 800 odd islands, there are a few that can be visited. Each of them is beautiful and unique in its own way. You can simply hire a boat and enjoy a few days of island hopping. Lampi Island, Cocks Comb Island, 115 Island, Nyaung Wee Island, Kyun Phi Lar Island and Myauk Ni Island are places to visit.


Myeik Islands are home to the sea gypsies known as Salone people, one of the ethnic groups of Myanmar. They live a nomadic life on the sea, having depended on it to sustain them for over a hundred years now. They practise free diving and can hold their breath underwater longer than most people.


The marine diversity of Myeik Archipelago makes it an ideal destination for deep-sea diving. You can view an incredible array of marine life including grey reef sharks, bull sharks, manta rays, frogfishes, ribbon eels, false pipefishes and much more. There are specific sites that are great for diving. You can embark on a diving expedition and enjoy some adventures here.


Love fishing? Then Myeik is the place to be. You can hire a boat and simply set sail on the water. Fishing equipment is available for hire in case you are not carrying your own. Some of the catches you can expect include Spanish mackerel, tuna, barracuda, snapper and cuttlefish. Roll up your sleeves and get ready for some serious fishing.

The best time to visit Myeik Archipelago is between October and April, when it is the dry season. From May to September, heavy rainfall makes the region difficult to explore.



This island has a beautiful heart-shaped lagoon in the middle, which can only be reached after trekking through the jungle and crawling through the caves. The island is about 4 hours away from Kawthaung and is a primary destination for snorkelling tours on the Andaman Sea. If you are looking for a fun adventure, this is the place to be.


Lampi Island features Lampi Marine National Park, which was declared as an ASEAN Heritage Park in 2003. The island is shaped like a massive horseshoe and is located towards the southern end of the country. It is definitely worth a visit.


This island is often known as frost island due to its amazing frost-like white sand beaches. In fact, this island owns some of the best beaches in Myanmar. The waters around the island are shallow, allowing you to enjoy a nice swim. The island also has a thick green forest. If you are a hiker, do walk around the forest, where you’ll be able to spot different bird species.


This island has a long white beach that stretches for miles. It is also known as Pilar and is a tourist favourite. Most of the island is untouched and squeaky clean. You will find monkeys sitting on the beach, snacking on crabs and having a good time. The waters around the island have colourful reefs, providing great opportunities for snorkelling.
