You can travel by air, boat, train and bus in Myanmar. You will get options for public transport almost anywhere. There are restrictions to travelling by road to some places, so please take a note of them.

CURRENCY
The local currency of the country is Kyat but US dollars are widely accepted in the country. You can also use credit cards in many places. You can travel to the country with your own currency and exchange the same in the currency exchange kiosks. Otherwise, you can directly travel into the country with Kyat or USD. We recommend you to check for availability of credit card kiosks beforehand to avoid untoward incidents.

Although there are no hard and fast rules for dressing, we recommend dressing conservatively but comfortably. Some pagodas may have dress requirements, so kindly check beforehand. We would suggest avoiding revealing clothing to get a local feeling. Knee length pants and long flowing skirts are recommended. Wear comfortable footwear such as flip flops. Wearing loose cotton clothing will help you cope up with the heat and humidity.

FOOD
If you are a foodie, we promise you the best of times. You will get a wide variety of local dishes in the country. If you don't eat something or have allergies, please tell the restaurant stuff about it. Local food can be spicy, hence please be careful. You will get a large variety of fresh fishes here, enjoy yourself.

LANGUAGE
English is a widely spoken language, especially by people involved in tourism. You should not have an issue with language. In case someone doesn't speak English, sign language will solve the problem. Myanmarese people greet by saying 'Mingalaba'. When people say that to you, say it back. They will be happy.

PEOPLE
The local people are lovely and full of warmth. You will feel happy seeing their simplicity. They will welcome you to their country and to their lives. Although you might not be able to speak to them, they will communicate with you in sign language. If you want to take a photo of them, they will be more than willing to oblige.

SAFETY
Travelling around Myanmar is very safe, our country has very less violence and petty crimes. Foreigners are welcome with open arms by the locals. However, please consult your tour guide or hotel staff before venturing out to lonely places, especially at night.

As a tourist, you will be spending most of your time sightseeing. Myanmar has some of the most scenic sunrises, hence we strongly recommend you to rise early and take in the breathtaking view. Starting early will also help you to avoid the harsh heat during day time and peak hour traffic. Please carry umbrella and caps for outdoor activities especially during the day time. Sunsets on the Ayeyarwady river are also something not to be missed.

We recommend you to try it out. You will get betel nut wrapped in betel leaves in small shops around the country. We recommend you to try that out too.
